Update: I Grew My Golf Brand 100% In The Last Year
This is a follow up story for BombTech Golf. If you're interested in reading how they got started, published over 6 years ago, check it out here.
Hello again! Remind us who you are and what business you started.
My name is Sully and I have been the founder of BombTech Golf since 2012. We build premium golf clubs for regular golfers that don’t break the bank. Our product line has expanded from our original golf driver to now include Iron sets, wedge sets, putters, a hittable one iron, golf bags…even the insane 72-degree lob wedge!
Now with our amazing customer base, we have built a brand that consistently does over $1 million a month. Growth is at 100 percent from last year and the only thing that holds us back is selling out!
Tell us about what you’ve been up to! Has the business been growing?
I never thought I would say this, but when I started BombTech Golf it was because I loved golf not because golf was hot or trendy. But, golf for the first time in many years is the hot and trendy thing to do. It’s been amazing to see my brand grow but also the game we all love. The only thing I don’t love is that it's tough to get a tee time.
Although we have scaled our business by 100 percent year over year I have maintained the same 2 in-house employees and believe in a lean business model. This makes the good months great and the great months, well insane.
Our business model hasn’t changed, we just have pushed the gas on our marketing efforts and continue to do things to wow our current customer base. This gives us huge opportunities for when we launch new product lines.
My time as owner has dropped to the lowest involvement yet. I designed BombTech to be hands-off and transferable because I have 2 young children and I wanted to spend their youngest years with them. Which was not the case when I first launched years ago. A lot has changed from those 20 hours a day 7 days a week business.
What have been your biggest lessons learned in the last year?
The biggest thing I have learned is that I may be the founder but I’m not the one who should be in the business doing tasks. Our best sales days are the ones when I don’t even open my computer.

I truly believe in delegating to experts and getting out of their way. It took me 2 kids to truly embrace delegation, but now I can never go back.
What’s in the plans for the upcoming year, and the next 5 years?
The business is scaling well and hands-off, which has given me time to start another business. But right now I’m truly enjoying time with my family and feel so fortunate to be growing so fast and am thankful for our amazing customers. We are nothing without them.
Have you read any good books in the last year?
E Myth - It is the first book that helped me understand being an owner versus an operator.
Advice for other entrepreneurs who might be struggling to grow their business?
It depends where they are on their journey and what they want.
do something you enjoy
remove income expectations when you start
once you hit 7 figs a year - start delegating
get out of your way and trust your team
have fun
