He quit his full-time job to pursue his startup and other ventures, using his skills to make websites and automate processes.
What problem does Closet Tools solve?π
How did Jordan come up with the idea for Closet Tools?π
Jordan O'Connor created Closet Tools to help his wife attract more traffic to her Poshmark profile.
He noticed that his wife had to spend a lot of time doing various tasks to attract more traffic and sales, but she didnβt have the time to do it all.
To solve this problem, he used his self-taught coding skills to create a tool that could automate these tasks for her.
After his wife and her friends found the tool helpful, Jordan was inspired to blog about the solution and share it on Reddit.
He then went on to build the frontend. Soon after launch, he attracted 10 paying clients, and the number of users has been growing since.
How did Jordan build the initial version of Closet Tools?π
Jordan developed a script that automated various tasks on Poshmark.
Initially, the script was a bookmarklet where the user would embed JavaScript code into a bookmark. Upon clicking the bookmark, the JavaScript code would run automatically.
Although the first version lacked a graphical user interface, users found it very useful and effective.
This positive feedback motivated Jordan to create an interactive frontend for the script.
What was the growth strategy for Closet Tools and how did they scale?π
Jordan wrote a blog post titled "Poshmark Automation". A month later, Google picked it up and started ranking it.
As a result, prospects started emailing him, inquiring about how the app worked and how they could use it. Jordan put up a Reddit post and released the code for free, along with instructions on how to use it.
He also created a landing page to create an emailing list, in exchange for instructions on using the app.
From that single Reddit post, he managed to get up to 200 signups in a day. Upon launch, Jordan signed up 10 paying customers and has been growing ever since.
