About The Business

What problem is Testimonial.to solving?

Collecting and showcasing testimonials is often tricky and expensive.

Idea

How did Damon Chen get the idea for Testimonial.to?

Chen, a software engineer at Cisco, considered looking for a new job but could not secure an interview, so he gave up and began seeking other opportunities.

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, he discovered the indiehackers.com community and started working on side projects, taking advantage of the flexibility of working from home.

Unfortunately, his initial projects did not generate any income, leading him to believe that his products may not have been compelling enough and required more social proof.

This prompted him to create testimonial.to, where he could utilize his experience in building a video product by incorporating video testimonials.

Build

How did Damon Chen build the initial version of Testimonial.to?

Chen had worked on several projects that didn't gain traction. To create the testimonial.io project, he reused about 80% of the code from Indielog, one of his previous projects. He then added a landing page and integrated Stripe payments before launching it on Product Hunt.

Launch

Initial customers came from Indie Hackers community and social media

The founder had met other indie hackers through indiehackers.com and indielog.com. They were my first few customers.
